Our Trip to San Francisco

The first thing we went to go see in SF was actually in San Jose, about an hour away from downtown. The Winchester Mystery House was very fun. It was built by Mrs. Sarah Winchester starting in 1884. The construction went on in the house for 24 hrs. a day until she died 38 years later. She believed that she was being haunted by the ghosts of people killed by the Winchester Rifle. She built the house to either appease the ghosts or to confuse them. There are a 160 rooms in the house. There are not very many hallways. The rooms are all interconnected. It was a cool house, we all really enjoyed the tours that we went on. It was nice to be able to do the tour with our friends Todd and Cheri.
The next day we went to the Oakland Temple which was very beautiful and a very good experience. Later in the afternoon we took a ferry our to the Rock, Alcatraz Prison. This was also very cool. We did an extra free, side tour about the military history of the island and how it went from fort to military prison to federal prison. Our guide was very entertaining and it was probably the highlight of our trip to Alcatraz. Matt and I watched Escape From Alcatraz to prepare for our trip which also made it a little more fun. Our friends Justin and Holly went to Alcatraz with us, which was awesome.
After our Scitor meeting on Saturday, all six of us walked a couple of miles to Fisherman's Wharf to see the sea lions and then to Ghiradelli Square for some awesome chocolate. Anyone who has been to San Francisco will believe me when I say that we walked up hill which ever direction we went in and that is only a slight exaggeration. It seemed like you were either walking uphill or downhill, nothing was flat.
It was a wonderful trip. Thanks to Scitor ( the company Matt works for) for taking us all there.

  2. Our honeymoon was in SF, and yes, I remember walking uphill in every direction too. Yeah for the Sea lions - they were my favorite! Okay, and the chocolate of course!
